Encroachment Fury in Lucknow: Public Path Seized, Colony Held Hostage

Lucknow– In a city known as the pride of the Nawabs and governed under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s much-touted “zero tolerance” policy, land mafia are brazenly tightening their grip. The latest case comes from Thakurganj’s Garhi Peer Khan area, where three local strongmen – identified as Makki, Dawood, and Saud – have reportedly encroached upon a government pathway, cutting off public access and leaving residents helpless.

The story of Shahin Khan and her family reflects the ordeal of the neighborhood. Their ancestral home stands beside the disputed passageway, which the accused have allegedly turned into their private estate by raising an illegal wall. Residents complain that the lane is blocked, their daily movement restricted, and attempts to seek redress have only brought further harassment.

When a complaint was lodged on the Chief Minister’s portal, locals allege that the police “settled” the matter in favor of the encroachers instead of ensuring justice. Those who raise their voice now face threats of violence and fabricated cases.

The incident has sparked outrage, raising questions over whether the “zero tolerance” promise is being reduced to paperwork. Citizens are demanding urgent intervention from the Police Commissioner, calling for strict action against the encroachers and accountability from the local police for their alleged inaction.

For residents of Garhi Peer Khan, the path is more than just a road—it is their right of way. Until decisive action is taken, the so-called zero tolerance drive against land mafia will remain under serious doubt.
